What is Bellafill®?
Bellafill® is a simple, injectable solution to fine lines and wrinkles. This dermal filler is also the only injectable that is FDA-approved for the treatment of certain types of acne scars. A single Bellafill® injection session can provide both immediate and sustained volume to smile lines and distensible, rolling acne scars that can last as long as five years after treatment.
How Does it Work?
Bellafill® is a Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) collagen filler, meaning that it is comprised of 80% collagen and 20% PMMA microspheres. When injected into the treatment area, the collagen portion of the product provides immediate volume to fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. In the months following the initial injection, the PMMA portion of Bellafill® slowly creates a structural matrix that supports and encourages your body’s own natural production of collagen.
Each injection session takes a short 30 minutes to complete and involves little to no downtime. While side effects like bruising, pain, swelling, itching, and discoloration are typical, they usually subside within a week of receiving treatment. The results of this treatment typically last 12 months, after which additional injections will be needed.
Am I a Candidate for Bellafill®?
Nearly any patient interested in improving the appearance of their distensible, rolling acne scars or nasolabial folds is a potential candidate for a Bellafill® treatment. Candidates must be healthy and have realistic expectations regarding their treatment results before undergoing these injections.
Before undergoing this treatment, patients must first schedule a consultation appointment with our practice’s board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Lateef. During this appointment, Dr. Lateef will ask each patient about their aesthetic goals, current state of health, and medical allergies in order to decide if Bellafill® is right for them.
This easy injectable treatment is the best and only way for patients to eliminate both rolling acne scars and smile lines through an injectable procedure. If you’d like more information about this groundbreaking treatment or are interested in scheduling a consultation appointment, don’t hesitate — contact Orlando Dermatology today!

Bellafill Acne Scar Correction
Q: What is the physical and emotional impact of acne scars?
A: Acne is the most common skin disorder in the U.S., affecting up to 40–50 million Americans.3 A significant number of acne sufferers go on to develop devastating scarring. Physician and patient market research shows relatively low satisfaction with many treatments, and patients having to make trade-offs between efficacy, longevity, safety, downtime, and cost.1
Scars are more than skin deep, and have been shown to cause high levels of anxiety and self-consciousness.4
In an independent study 92% of people said if their acne scars were healed, it would restore or improve their self-confidence.5
Now with Bellafill®, acne scar sufferers have a new treatment choice approved by the FDA that is proven to be safe and effective with minimal to no downtime.
